Interested in filmmaking but a tough job: Neel Dutt
Music director Neel Dutt not only delved into music of filmmaker Anjan Dutt's Feb 3 release Revolver Rohoshyo but he was also associated with the film as a creative producer. In an interactive session with IBNS correspondent Souvik Ghosh, Neel shares his experience and spills the beans about his future plans
Q. How different was the music in this film?
A. The music in this film won't sound like the typical one which we hear in a detective film since we have tried not to treat Revolver Rohoshyo as just a detective and adventure film.
Q. So what kind of music is there in the film?
A. We have treated the soundtrack from a romantic perspective. Me as the music director has just heightened the romance in the film.

Q. So it was a different experience for you as well because detective film generally remains bereft of romantic tales.
A. I have felt the characterisation of detective films, which have been released in the last eight-nine years, was a bit detached from reality. There are many web shows which are stories and have imaginations but they seem very real. In this context, we have tried to make Revolver Rohoshyo seem a bit real in conceptualisation as well as from the angle of the script.
Q. How was the experience of donning the hat of creative producer in Revolver Rohoshyo?
A. It was about overseeing the entire project creatively, be it acting or script. This experience will turn out to be very important and interesting if I plunge into filmmaking in future. It was about getting involved in the minute details of the film. Watching every scene objectively was my crucial learning from this job.
Q. Are you considering joining the filmmaking process?
A. I am thinking of it. I am into writing as well. I have a wish to do filmmaking but it's a very difficult job. In my personal understanding, filmmaking is not a very easy task to do because it encompasses various things.
