BSF in Tripura seized contraband items of Rs. 28.25 cr, apprehends 208 BD, 16 Rohingyas in last six months
The Border Guards posted in Tripura frontier have achieved significant success in last six months of the present year in prevention of trans-border crimes and seized huge quantities of contraband items having total value of around Rs. 28.25 crore.
BSF through a press statement said that the seized, which include huge quantity of narcotic substances 5,03, Yaba Tables (Rs. 25,18,37,500/-), 6,826.25Kgs dry Ganja(Rs. 4,43,24,250/-), besides, large number of cattle heads and other articles Phensedyl, Eskuf and gold etc.
Due to strict vigil on the border, troops of BSF Tripura Frontier have apprehended a total 360 personnel while attempting illegal crossing of border including 208 Bangladeshi and 16 Rohingyas. The Border Guards in the last six months have also arrested 16 Indian touts for their human trafficking activities.
Over strengthening of border infrastructures, BSF said that at present eight gaps where Single Row Fence (SRF) was pending for construction, have been completed and the gaps have been plugged. Similarly, the SRF work is in progress in four other stretches.
In order to curb trans-border crimes, BSF has equipped with latest technologies including thermal imagers, night vision devices, CCTV cameras and drones, which are being utilized to keep watch along the border to prevent the infiltration and other trans - border crimes. Border floodlights are illuminating the area during the night hour. In addition, the border fence is being strengthened by employing improvised methods and intruder alarms.
BSF Tripura Frontier has regularly maintained a very healthy and cordial relationship with the border population and organized various civic action programs over the years. During the period, several Civic Action Programs were organized and the border populations were provided with various equipment and basic amenities for safe drinking water, health support system, educational/study material, sports equipment etc.
BSF added that recently concluded IGLT at Shillong, Meghalaya IG BSF and Region commander BGB exchanged the list of criminals involved in trans-border crimes and reached consensus to take appropriate action against them.
Nodal officers of both the border guarding forces are in regular contact with each other and sharing information of operational values. Under simultaneous coordinated patrol during day and night, hours BSF and BGB troops are dominating the area by conducting joint patrolling
BSF also said that special teams have been constituted to apprehend illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingyas immigrants from depth areas like railway stations and bus stands.
