BSF on high alert ahead of Tirthamukk Mela
Tirthmukh, a place surrounded by high hills in Gomati district, is celebrating “ Poush Sankranti Mela” popularly known as Tirthmukh Mela on 13-14 January 2025. The location of Mela is very close Indo-Bangladesh border and a matter of security concern for Border Security Force.
Anil Sharma, DIG Sector HQ BSF Udaipur has directed under command BSF Battalion to take all precautionary measures to ensure smooth conduct of festival and to thwart any interference of miscreants across border.
Coordination between BSF and District administration of Dhalai and Gomati at different level is being done in advance to ensure smooth conduct of Mela. BSF Tripura has taken various initiatives. Additional troops have been deployed border to prevent infiltration. Joint Patrolling with TSR and Tripura Police are being carried out to ensure Multi Layered Security. Riverine domination is being carried out in Gomati River and Dumboor lake to restrict any unauthorized movement. Border Surveillance has been increased by employment of Night Vision Devices, Drones and CCTV at various patches on border in close vicinity of Tirthmukh. Local Stakeholders like Taxi Operator Association and Boat Association were also engaged by BSF to facilitate smooth movement of pilgrims along IBBR (Indo- Bangladesh border Road). Interceptor teams on motorbikes are intensively patrolling to monitor and regulate movement of civil vehicles on Border Road .Mobile check Posts have been established to promote a sense of security and to create deterrance amongst anti social elements. Identity of travellers are being verified through random checking of vehicles.
Border Security Force extends heartiest greetings to all pilgrims on the auspicious occasion of “Paush Sankranti”.
