‘Super-30’ scheme, 27 students to be trained in present academic year
Altogether 27 students to be trained coaching institutes of other states by the Tripura government to pursue medical and engineering courses under ‘Super-30’ scheme and their admission process has already been completed.
Sources said that during the year 2022-23, a total of 30 students were trained for medical and engineering entrance examinations under the ‘Super-30’ scheme of the state.
As per the scheme, 30 students would be selected based on their marks (60%) in science subjects of class 10 board examinations and the government will sponsor these selected students to study in renowned coaching institutes of their choice anywhere in the country. Altogether 27 students will also get the facilities of free coaching to pursue engineering and medical courses outside Tripura under the ‘Super-30’ scheme in the present academic year, said an officer on special duty (OSD) to the Secondary Education department, Madhumita Nath through a press statement.
The Tripura government launched the Super 30 scheme to extend financial aid to the students aspiring to crack engineering and medical entrance examinations from the financial year 2020-21. Total of 30 students were trained under this scheme in 2022-23 of whom 27 students are pursuing coaching in engineering and medical courses outside the state and this year also 27 more students will be provided free coaching under this scheme, said the statement.
According to the scheme, 30 students would be selected based on their marks (60%) in science subjects of class 10 board examinations. The state will sponsor these selected students to study in renowned coaching institutes of their choice anywhere in India. Out of total 30 seats, 15 are reserved for the general category, nine for the Scheduled Tribe (ST), five for Scheduled Caste (SC) and one for Divyangas.
Earlier in 2020-21, a total of 30 students were selected of which 12 successfully cracked the medical and engineering entrance examinations. Among the six students are studying MBBs and six are engineering, said Nath. In the financial year 2021-22, altogether 30 students got the selection and among them seven successful students, two are pursuing MBBS and five are studying in engineering courses.
Under the scheme, the government will provide Rs.1 lakh for coaching and Rs.1.40 lakhs for the accommodation of each student for first year and Rs.1,05 lakh for coaching and Rs.1.47 lakhs for second year and the annual family income of these selected students should be less than Rs.8 lakhs.
