Tripura govt imposed ban on registration of 3-wheeler vehicles across Agartala
In order to give a relief to Agartala city dwellers from daily congested traffic jams in every knock and corners of the city from mushrooming 3-wheelers vehicles including e-rickshaws, the state government on Monday in a timely decision has issued a ban on registration of all types of 3-wheeler passengers and goods vehicles in areas of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
The Transport department of Tripura government on Monday (July 1st) through a notification said that “in exercise of the powers conferred by section 115 of Motor Vehicle Act-1988 and for the interest of promoting sustainable urban mobility, the Transport department of Tripura government hereby imposes ban on registration of all types of 3-wheeler passenger and goods vehicles on and from July 10th, 2024 in AMC areas.”
The notification has also mentioned that all these 3-wheeler passenger and goods vehicles shall include e-rickshaws, e-cart, e-auto, petrol auto, diesel auto and CNG auto and vehicle drive on bio-fuel (Methanol and ethanol) etc.
The Transport department also said that the notification aims to manage traffic congestion and ensure public safety and convenience to promote alternative transportation methods by banning the registration of 3-wheelers including passengers and goods vehicles in greater public interest.
The notification has also directed the Transport Commissioner and DTO, West Tripura to ensure strict compliance of the order and department will review the effect of the restriction on the urban mobility from time to time and shall have right to review and amend this notification as per need.
