Dense fog covers Delhi-NCR; over 160 flights impacted, train ops hit
New Delhi/IBNS: Over 160 flights have been impacted as thick fog continued to cover parts of the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) on Sunday morning, resulting in reduced visibility for the third straight day.
According to reports, the operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) were hit severely, with more than 155 delays reported for aircraft not equipped with advanced CAT III navigation systems.
At least eight flights were cancelled on Sunday morning as the general visibility at the airport was zero at 7:30 am.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), in an update issued around 7 am, reassured travellers that landings and takeoffs were ongoing.
However, it cautioned that non-CAT III-compliant flights might face delays.

Meanwhile, over 50 trains have been delayed across the national capital by an average of four to six hours due to near-zero visibility.
The Railways have urged the passengers to travel only after checking the status of their train.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for dense fog during the morning hours, warning of reduced visibility across the city.
