Kashmir valley bracing for rain, snow during next 2 days

Srinagar/UNI: Meteorological Department forecast of isolated light rain, snow during the next 24 hours while widespread light to moderate rain snow over Jammu and Kashmir during the next two days.


Weather to remain dry and partly to mostly cloudy coupled with fog in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, had a low of 1.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday against 0.9 degree Celsius recorded the previous night. It was 3.7 degrees above normal during this period of the season.

Srinagar with overcast sky coupled with low visibility , cold and fog disrupting the normal life on Tuesday.

Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.2 degree Celsius against minus 0.7 degree Celsius a day ago. It was 3.8 degrees above normal during this period of the season for the valley of shepherds.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday against minus 2.5 degree Celsius recorded the previous night. It was 3.4 degrees above normal for the valley of meadow.

Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius while Kokernag recorded a low of minus 3.6 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

The frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara recorded a low of 2.9 degree Celsius against the 0.7 degree Celsius on Tuesday, the MeT office said.
