Rotary Club of Belur strengthens Kolkata healthcare with donation to Ramkrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan
The Rotary Club of Belur on Monday inaugurated advanced State-of-the-Art Endoscopic Surgical Equipment (Laparoscopy & Colposcopy) at the Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan (RKM-SP), Kolkata.

The equipment, generously donated by AKS Bhagwan Das Agarwal in cherished memory of his beloved wife, Late Urmila Devi Agarwal, marks a significant step towards strengthening healthcare facilities and providing modern surgical solutions to the gynecological department of Ramkrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Gahanananda Hall, RKM-SP, was presided over by Pujya Swami Nityakamanand ji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan. Dr. Ramendu Homchaudhuri, Governor, RI District 3291, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Distinguished guests included Rtn. Purnendu Roy Chowdhury (District Governor Nominee 2027–28), and AKS Dr. Krishnendu Gupta (Immediate Past District Governor, RI District 3291), along with senior members of Rotary and the medical fraternity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sharad Dugar, President of Rotary Club of Belur (2024–25), said:
“Healthcare is one of Rotary’s key focus areas, and today’s contribution reflects our commitment to serving society by equipping hospitals with the latest technology. We are deeply grateful to AKS Bhagwan Das Agarwal for his generous gesture in memory of Late Urmila Devi Agarwal, which will impact countless lives for years to come.”
In his address, Pujya Swami Nityakamanand ji Maharaj expressed heartfelt appreciation, and said: "At Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan, we have always strived to offer compassionate healthcare to all sections of society. This noble donation will not only enhance our surgical facilities but also embody the spirit of seva that Swami Vivekananda envisioned. We sincerely thank the Rotary Club of Belur for this invaluable support.”
The august gathering was also addressed AKS IPDG Dr Krishnendu Gupta and Departmental HOD Dr Sukanta Misra who well appreciated the contribution of RC Belur for their generous contribution for anoble cause.
The event coordinated by Project Chair Rtn Vishnu Dhandhania , concluded with a vote of thanks by IPP of RC Belur Rtn Anand Agarwal, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in creating accessible and advanced healthcare.
