The launch will mark a new addition to the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) franchise.
“KRAFTON India announced that BGMI Lite is coming soon to India, marking the next chapter in the evolution of the BGMI experience,” the makers said in an Instagram post.
The post further stated: “Set to launch by the end of 2026, BGMI Lite will bring a new way for players across the country to engage with the world of BGMI.”
KRAFTON has not yet revealed further details about the game's gameplay, supported devices, features or system requirements.
Before PUBG Mobile was rebranded as BGMI in India, KRAFTON launched PUBG Mobile Lite in July 2019 as a lighter version designed for budget and entry-level Android smartphones, IGN India reported.
PUBG Mobile Lite was built to run on devices with limited RAM and storage. At launch, the game was around 400MB in size and was designed to work on smartphones with less than 2GB of RAM, according to the report.
