The fēnix 9 Pro features a titanium watch case that combines a premium look with a rugged yet lightweight design.

Both models come with several upgrades, including Garmin Epic, a new feature that allows users to combine multiple activities into a single shareable story in Garmin Connect. Enhanced stamina metrics also help athletes better understand their endurance and adjust their training.

Select fēnix 9 Pro models feature built-in satellite and LTE connectivity, enabling users to make calls, send texts and access SOS communication directly from their wrists.

“fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro are purpose-built for those who want to perform better and venture farther. Athletes can better understand endurance gains and train smarter with advanced stamina metrics, while superior navigation tools help adventurers stay confidently on course. And with the new Garmin Epic feature, activities are turned into stories for users to relive. With these fēnix smartwatches on their wrist, our customers can redefine what they thought possible,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing.

fēnix 9

Designed for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, the fēnix 9 comes with a range of new and enhanced features aimed at taking training and exploration to the next level.

The smartwatch features an AMOLED display that is twice as bright as its predecessor, along with a scratch-resistant sapphire lens, leakproof buttons and a dive rating of up to 40 metres.

Garmin Epic, available free through Garmin Connect, allows users to combine multiple activities recorded over several days, weeks or months into a single “Epic”. Users can review health and performance data from the period, add photos and share their experiences with friends and family.

The new stamina zones and stamina curve features provide insights into how endurance changes over time based on fitness gains and training history, helping users better pace themselves during activities.

The watch also provides additional fitness insights during indoor rowing, including VO2 Max and power curve data, allowing users to track progress, set goals and adjust workout intensity.

Expanded rucking features allow users to adjust pack weight during an activity, follow GORUCK workouts directly from the watch and set target metrics such as calories burned with up to 100kg of pack weight.

For navigation, the fēnix 9 features built-in routable maps with an updated map engine and 50% more RAM than the fēnix 8. Garmin said panning is up to 30% faster, while a new perspective view provides additional detail to help users anticipate upcoming terrain.

With 64GB of storage, users can download twice as many maps as on the fēnix 8 and store up to 7,000 songs.

The fēnix 9 is available in 43mm, 47mm and 51mm sizes.

fēnix 9 Pro

Building on the features of the fēnix 9, the fēnix 9 Pro adds a new design and options for phone-free connectivity, solar charging, additional flashlight modes and other upgrades.

Titanium design

The fēnix 9 Pro is the first fēnix smartwatch to feature a titanium watch case, combining durability with a premium appearance. Garmin uses nano-molding technology to combine metal and plastic at the molecular level, creating a lightweight design while maintaining ruggedness.

The fēnix 9 Pro AMOLED displays offer up to 3,000 nits of brightness, allowing users to view maps and statistics clearly even in bright sunlight.

The 51mm Pro model features Garmin’s first 1.5-inch AMOLED display, which is 15% larger than the display on the fēnix 8 without increasing the case size.

Select Pro models also feature solar-charging displays, offering extended battery life of up to several weeks.

For nighttime adventures, the integrated LED flashlight now includes a green-light mode designed to help preserve night vision.

Phone-free connectivity

Select fēnix 9 Pro models feature inReach connectivity, allowing users to stay connected with friends and family and access emergency assistance through Garmin Response, the company’s 24/7 coordination centre, without carrying a smartphone.

With an active inReach plan, users can access calling, texting and SOS features, along with additional connectivity options.

LiveTrack notifications are available through the Garmin Messenger app via LTE, allowing selected contacts to receive alerts when a user starts an activity and follow their progress. Users can also send messages quickly to pre-selected recipients.

The LTE connection also enables the new Garmin Locate feature, allowing loved ones to view a user's location through the Garmin Messenger app.

Users can also receive weather forecasts for specific locations directly on the watch via satellite or LTE.

For the first time, inReach connectivity is available across all three fēnix 9 Pro sizes — 43mm, 47mm and 51mm.

Customisation options

Garmin has also introduced new ComfortFit accessory bands for the fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro. The fabric bands feature a split-weave design aimed at combining stretch, durability, softness and moisture resistance, while QuickFit functionality makes them easy to change.

The fēnix 9 starts at $999.99 and offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode on the largest model.

The fēnix 9 Pro starts at $1,099.99 and offers up to 31 days of battery life in smartwatch mode with the largest AMOLED display. Solar-charging models can deliver up to 57 days of battery life, according to Garmin.

The watches are available in multiple colour options and come with a range of health, fitness and wellness features.
