No gym obsession, no crash diets: Shahid Kapoor’s fitness mantra will surprise you
Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has opened up about the diet and fitness routine that keeps him fit and energetic in his 40s, stressing the importance of consistency over intensity.
Ahead of the release of his upcoming film O’Romeo, Shahid said he follows a balanced and sustainable approach to fitness rather than extreme workouts.
Speaking to The Indian Express, the 44-year-old actor said his routine focuses on staying agile and injury-free.
“My routine usually includes a mix of functional training, strength work, and mobility exercises to keep me agile and injury-free. I prefer training in the morning, which gives me a good head start to the day,” Shahid said.
He added that he often incorporates cardio or sports into his schedule to keep workouts engaging.
“I also try to add some cardio or a sport whenever possible just to keep things interesting. Overall, it’s about maintaining a balanced routine that supports my energy, my work, and my overall well-being.”
Like several of his contemporaries, Shahid believes in clean and simple eating habits and strongly avoids late-night meals. A vegetarian, the actor said his diet naturally remains balanced.
“I try to eat clean and stay disciplined, but I’m not extreme about it. My meals include plenty of greens, vegetables, and pulses. I avoid heavy, unhealthy foods and don’t eat late at night, as it really affects my energy,” he said.
Shahid also revealed that he prefers smaller, more frequent meals to stay light in the evenings while maintaining energy levels throughout the day.
On the professional front, Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for the release of O’Romeo, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
The film marks his reunion with the acclaimed filmmaker and pairs him opposite Triptii Dimri. The cast also includes Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary and Randeep Hooda in pivotal roles.
