5 militants killed as security forces foil infiltration bid in Jammu Kashmir
Srinagar: Five unidentified militants were killed as security forces foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machil sector of Kupwara district on Thursday.
This is the second infiltration bid that has been foiled in Kashmir in the last four days.
On October 22, two infiltrators were killed in the Uri sector of Baramulla.
The latest infiltration bid was foiled in the Machil sector of Kupwara after joint forces launched an operation following a specific input by J&K police, officials said.
Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that five terrorists were killed in the encounter.
He said identification of the slain is being ascertained.
Kumar said the search operation was in progress in the area
Earlier in the day, Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps in a post on X said an infiltration bid was foiled at Kupwara.

The bid in Kupwara was foiled, a day after a high-level multi-agency joint security review meeting discussed nuances of security in the region in relation to the onset of the winter season.
J&K Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh said infiltration bids were being carried from across the border to push the militants to this side before the routes would get closed due to snowfall.
