Ahead of Assembly polls, Union Cabinet approves Rs 6,230 cr for Delhi Metro Phase-4
New Delhi: Ahead of the Assembly elections in Delhi, the Union Cabinet on Friday approved the Rithala–Narela–Nathupur (Kundli) corridor under Phase-4 of the Delhi Metro project, aiming to enhance connectivity between Delhi and Haryana.

Spanning 26.5 kilometers, the corridor is expected to be completed within four years of its approval, according to a Cabinet statement.
“The completion cost of the project is Rs 6,230 crore and it is to be implemented by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC), the existing 50:50 Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of the Government of India (GoI) and the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) in four years,” the statement noted.
The new line will extend the operational Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda)–Rithala (Red Line) corridor, improving connectivity in the north-western areas of Delhi, including Narela, Bawana, and parts of Rohini.
The 21-station stretch will primarily serve areas of Rohini that previously lacked metro access. All stations on the corridor will be elevated.
According to the Centre, this corridor, connecting Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh to Nathupur in Haryana via Delhi, will play a crucial role in enhancing connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR).
As part of Delhi Metro's Phase-4, six corridors were proposed, three of which were designated as priority projects and sanctioned in 2019.

“Construction of Phase-IV (3 Priority Corridors), comprising 65.202 km and 45 stations, is underway, and as of today, more than 56 per cent of construction has been completed.
"The Phase-IV (3 Priority) corridors are likely to be completed in stages by March 2026. In addition, two more corridors, comprising 20.762 kilometres, have also been approved and are in the pre-tendering stages,” the Cabinet statement added.
Currently, DMRC operates 12 metro lines across Delhi and the NCR, covering approximately 392 kilometers and including 288 stations.
