Bihar: Nine policemen suspended in Purnea for extortion
Nine policemen posted at various police stations were suspended with immediate effect for extorting money from fish van in this district of Bihar.
Police Superintendent Aamir Javed said on Saturday that complaint was received about police patrolling party extorting money from fish van on NH-31.
A team headed by DSP (traffic) was constituted to probe the charges and complaint was found true when raid was conducted as policemen were caught red handed while extorting money from fish van on NH-31, he added.
"All the policemen have been suspended with immediate effect," Javed said adding that among those suspended were posted at Sadar police station, Vaisi police station, Dagarrua police station and Police Academy.
Further departmental action would also be taken against them, he stated.
