Sharing a photograph with Advani on X, Prasad penned an emotional tribute, recalling the veteran leader's political journey and his contribution to the growth of the BJP.
"Today is Shri Advani ji’s birthday, and it is a very happy coincidence that he is entering the 100th year of his life. India’s Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi ji, has written a deeply inspiring and moving article about his life journey in today’s newspapers," Prasad wrote.

Recalling Advani's journey from Karachi to becoming one of India's most influential political leaders, Prasad said: "After the horrors of Partition, he came to India, uprooted from his home, and went on to become an RSS pracharak, a Jana Sangh leader and the BJP’s national president on several occasions. Throughout this journey, he strengthened and clarified the party’s ideological foundations while building the organisation into a nationwide force."
Prasad also credited Advani with taking India's cultural nationalism to new heights through the Ayodhya movement and challenging what he described as pseudo-secularism.
He further highlighted Advani's contributions to national security during his tenure as Union Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
"His struggle against the Emergency and his remarks in defence of the rights of the public and the media remain important milestones in the country’s political journey," Prasad said.
Recalling his personal association with the BJP veteran, Prasad said he considered it a great privilege to have received Advani's guidance and blessings throughout his political career.
"When he was arrested in Bihar during the Rath Yatra, I was his lawyer in the Patna High Court. Later, I also had the privilege of appearing on his behalf in several cases in the Supreme Court," he said.
Describing his birthday meeting with Advani, Prasad added: "Today, I went to meet him, wish him a happy birthday and seek his blessings. When I told him my name, saying that I was Ravishankar, a faint smile appeared on his face even at this age."
LK Advani: A towering figure in the BJP's political journey
Born in Karachi on November 8, 1927, Advani moved to India during the Partition in 1947.
He went on to become one of the most influential figures in the BJP's emergence and expansion, serving as the party's national president on three occasions.
During the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government, Advani served as Union Home Minister. He later became India's Deputy Prime Minister, holding the position from 2002 to 2004.
His political career spanned several decades, during which he played a prominent role in shaping the BJP's organisational structure and political trajectory.
Advani honoured with Bharat Ratna
In March 2024, the Centre announced the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, for Advani in recognition of his contribution to public life.
President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to him at his residence in New Delhi, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders.
The honour recognised Advani's decades-long political career and his contribution to Indian public affairs.
