"The Committee will not be a substitute to other enquiries being conducted by relevant organisations but will focus on formulating SOPs for preventing and handling such occurrences in the future," it said.

Tata Group announces Rs. 1 crore compensation for victims

The Tata Group, which owns Air India, has announced that a compensation of Rs. 1 crore (133,514 US dollars) will be given to the families of each passenger who died in the crash.

The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, en route to London with 242 people onboard, crashed immediately after it took off from Ahmedabad airport on June 12, leaving 241 people onboard dead.

One person, the passenger of seat No. 11A,  survived the crash miraculously, the Ahmedabad Police said.

The lone survivor in the mishap was taken to the hospital and is under treatment.

Apart from them, 33 people, who were on the ground when the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into the BJ Medical College campus, died in the mishap.

Indian PM Narendra Modi visited the crash site on June 13.

US Congressman demands transparent probe

Indian-American Congressman and a member of the Intelligence Committee of the US House of Representatives, Ami Bera, has demanded a full and transparent probe into the Air India flight crash in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad that left 274 people dead on Thursday.

Bera said a detailed investigation should take place to determine the cause of the crash and prevent any such incidents from occurring in future.

In his X post, Bera said: "I am heartbroken by the devastating news of the Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this horrific tragedy in India and around the world."

David Huerta has long stood up for working people and immigrant families across California. His violent detention while exercising his constitutional rights is deeply troubling. I stand with David and @seiucalifornia in demanding answers and accountability. https://t.co/hRUknkFq0t

"There must be a full and transparent investigation to determine the cause of this crash and ensure that every step is taken to prevent a tragedy like this from ever happening again," he said.
