Congress newly elected MLAs asks party high command to elect CLP leader

Shimla: Newly elected Congress MLAs have asked party high command to elect Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader or Chief minister candidate, party Incharge Rajiv Shukla informed media person after a CLP meeting here Friday.


He said that all legislators passed a resolution unanimously empowering AICC high command to elect new CLP leader or Chief minister on their behalf which would be acceptable to all of them.

He said that meeting was attended by Congress central observers Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Bhagel, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and party leaders - Rajiv Shukla, Gurukirat Singh Kotli, Sanjay Dutt, Tajinder Pal Bitu, party state president Pratibha Singh, campaign committee in-charge Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and leader of Opposition in last Vidhan Sabha Mukesh Agnihotri.

He said that the meeting held in a peaceful manner and all new 40 MLAs remained present.

 The CLP leaders passed a one line resolution empowering AICC leadership to decide new leaders of Congress Vidhayak Dal who would be new Chief minister.

He said that Bhagel, Hooda and Shukla also met to Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajinder Vishavnath Arlekar and handed over the a letter from behalf of Congress party MLAs to form new Government and demanding the Governor to invite Congress Vidhyak Dal to form new government.

He said that central observers also met all new MLA individual to know the name of their choice as new Vidhyak Dal leader. Party spokesperson said that four names which would be vetted by the MLA to help AICC High command likely to be sent with the resolution separately.

Among those who are discussed in the meeting as Vidhyak leader are Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Mukesh Agnihotri, Pratibha Singh, Chander Kumar, Dhani Ram Shandil and Harshvardhan Chauhan. Party legislators remained fail to elect any one person from above candidate unanimously decided to passed one line resolution.

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presented the resolution which was seconded by Pratibha Singh and Mukesh Agnihotri and supported and signed by all legislators. Now goalposts to elect new Congress Vidhyak Dal leader shifted to New Delhi which would take one or two days before formal announcement by AICC leadership.
