Congress to launch house-to-house campaign in poll-bound Rajasthan
New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: The Congress on Thursday announced the launch of a house-to-house campaign from July 7 in the poll-bound Rajasthan under which it will highlight various schemes and achievements of its government-led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The decision was taken in the meeting convened by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge with leaders of the state unit of Rajasthan, in the presence of top party leaders Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal at the party headquarters here.
Addressing a press conference, Venugopal while apprising about the meeting said that a slew of decisions were taken in view of the upcoming Assembly polls in Rajasthan.
"On elections preparations, we have taken important decisions today. A house-to-house campaign in Rajasthan will start from tomorrow. Our ministers, MLAs, leaders, and workers will highlight the government's schemes and achievements under the campaign," Venugopal said, who is also the party's General Secretary in-charge Organisation.
Among others, the senior Congress leader also informed that all the leaders present in the meeting unanimously resolved to fight the upcoming elections unitedly.
"Twenty-nine leaders including the CM of Rajasthan have participated in the meeting. Everybody unanimously resolved that there will be a unity among the Rajasthan Congress," he said.
In an apparent reference to the reported rift between Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, Venugopal said, "Earlier there were differences, the specialty of today's meeting is everybody decided to fight the elections unitedly."
Referring to the Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said, "The yatra has created a big atmosphere in Rajasthan. The entire situation in Rajasthan has been changed after the yatra. We are very sure that Congress will win again in Rajasthan."
The Yatra-led by Rahul which had started from Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari in September last year, traversed through several states including Karnataka, and concluded in Jammu and Kashmir in January. The party says it was one of its "most decisive mass contact programmes".
Earlier, Kharge in a tweet wrote, "Public service, relief and upliftment of all, Rajasthan growing on the path of progress. Congress has taken the schemes of inclusive development and public welfare to every household in Rajasthan."
The Congress chief added, "Every section of the society in Rajasthan is expressing its faith in the Congress . We will take care of everyone's aspirations. Both present and future of Rajasthan are safe in the hands of Congress. History will change this time."
