Controversial BBC documentary on PM Modi screened at Hyderabad University
Hyderabad/IBNS: The controversial documentary by BBC on Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Monday screened by a group of students at the Hyderabad University, media reports said.
Student Islamic Organisation and Muslim Student Federation had organised the screening inside the university campus.
Right wing student organisation ABVP's leader Mahesh said as quoted by NDTV, "We have escalated the matter to University Authorities and demanded action on the organisers. The group has organised screening without permission inside the campus premises."
Police said they haven't received any complaint. "If we receive a complaint, investigation will be taken up," police said.
The Centre has blocked access to the two-part BBC documentary which claims to have investigated certain aspects of the 2002 Gujarat riots when Modi was the state's Chief Minister.
The government on Friday directed social media platforms Twitter and YouTube to block links to the series.
Earlier, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the two-part docu-series was a 'propaganda piece designed to push a particular discredited narrative'.
