Death toll in Mumbai Ghatkopar hoarding collapse touches 14
The death toll due to the billboard collapse in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area has touched 14, media reports said.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation confirmed the death toll and posted on X: " Yesterday (13 May) evening, in the Chheda Nagar area of Ghatkopar, a tragic incident occurred due to speedy winds, resulting in the collapse of a hoarding."

"Medical treatment is currently being provided to 44 injured individuals, with 31 already discharged after receiving treatment. Unfortunately, 14 people scummbed to death in this mishap," the municipal body said.
The BMC said rescue operations are ongoing at the site.
"Disaster Management Department of BMC is overseeing co-ordination with all concerned agencies," it said.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar said stringent legal action will be taken against those responsible for this mishap.
"Heartfelt condolences to families who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate mishap at Ghatkopar today. @MumbaiPolice team is on the spot in the rescue operation. We assure citizens that stringent legal action will be taken against those responsible for this mishap." he posted on X.

A massive Ghatkopar hoarding collapse in Mumbai has resulted in 14 deaths on Tuesday.
The hoarding, which was reportedly erected by a private body, crashed in the gusty winds on several houses and a petrol pump in Pant Nagar.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the citizens who died in the tragedy.
