Delhi car incident: One more accused arrested, say police
New Delhi/UNI: One more person has been arrested in the Kanjhawala case wherein a 20-year-old girl, who died after her scooty was reportedly hit and her body was dragged for 13 kms by a car, police said on Friday.
The sixth accused has been identified as Ashutosh. However, five persons were arrested earlier and they are in police custody.
The sixth accused has been arrested as he had given false information to the police, claimed Sagar Preet Hooda, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).
"18 teams have been investigating the case on all aspects. Teams have visited the scene of crime and postmortem has been done.
"Five accused are in police custody and interrogation is underway and whatever new clues come out are being verified," Hooda earlier said.
"Police have scientific evidence that Deepak, who claimed to be driving the car but Amit was actually driving it, does not have a driving license,” Hooda added.
As per the investigation done so far and call details, the deceased and eyewitness had no connection with the accused, Hooda added.
Nidhi’s (eyewitness of the incident) statement under 164 CrPC has been recorded, police said.
The case of murder is yet to be made because a motive is needed for murder but no motive has been found in the probe so far, Hooda earlier said.
The postmortem of the victim was conducted by a three member medical board in Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi.
As per report, the provisional cause of death was shock and hemorrhage as a result of antemortem injury to the head, spine, left femur, both lower limbs.
The injuries were produced by blunt force impact and possible vehicular accident and dragging. Also, the report inducts that there is no injury suggestive of sexual assault, police earlier added.
