Delhi: Cyber crime police arrest prime accused for looting Rs 5 crore from US citizen
Kendrapara: Delhi Cyber police in a joint raid with Rajnagar police station on Monday nabbed one Subrat Das, for his involvement in looting Rs 5 crores from an American through Teamviewer app.
The accused with the help of his associates pretended as if the employees of the concerned software looted the money on the pretext of repairing the laptop of the American citizen online.
After arrest, the Delhi cyber police produced Subrat Das, the prime accused and the mastermind in the cyber fraud before the Rajnagar JMFC court on Tuesday to take him on remand to Delhi for further interrogation.
IIC of Rajnagar police station Sreekant Barik said the laptop of Jose Antonio Coderch contacted Greek software after his laptop started malfunctioning.
Subrat Das, with the help of two of his associates, contacted Coderch pretending to be the employees of Greek software. They informed Copdrech that his laptop had been hacked and asked him to download the teamviewer software app.
Jose Antonio Coderch downloaded the app on his laptop. Later Subrat who introduced him as Austim and his two other associates allegedly accessed MS-Dos on the laptop and the money transaction of Jose Antonio Coderch on his laptop.
Jose Antonio Coderch had provided the bank details to Subrat and his associates after Subrat and his associates told him that the cybercriminal had hacked his laptop and bank account.
They suggested he should deposit his money in a safe account and when Jose Antonio Coderch provided his bank account information and password the accused allegedly took 6.25 lakh dollars(around 5 crores in Indian currency) to another account and stopped responding to Coderch.
Suspecting, he was cheated by cyber fraud, Jose Antonio Coderch lodged a complaint with the Delhi Cyber crime police station.
During the investigation, cyber police came to know that the three cyber fraudsters switched off their mobiles.
However, the Delhi cyber police came to know through mobile tracking that prime accused Subrat Das left Delhi after committing crime and staying at his father-in-laws house in Malliabuda village under Rajnagar police station.
A four-member team of Delhi cyber police led by its inspector Janit Malik contacted Rajnagar police station and nabbed Subrat from Pentha beach area.
