Delhi Police arrests man, who murdered Swiss woman and kept the body in a car
New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested a man on allegations of murdering a Swiss woman, whose body was found in West Delhi's Tilak Nagar area on Friday, media reported.
The victim has been identified as Nina Berger. Her body was found near a government school on Friday morning, partly covered with a black garbage disposal plastic bag, NDTV reported, citing police sources.
Gurpreet Singh met the woman in Switzerland and became friends. Singh would often visit Switzerland to meet her but realised she was involved in a relationship with another man.
He requested her to come to India and she arrived in Delhi on October 11, said the police, according to the NDTV report.
After five days of her stay in India, Gurpreet took her to a room, tied her with a rope, and killed her, police said.
Initially, he kept her body in a car bought by the ID of a woman.
When a foul smell began to emanate from the car, he threw the victim’s body on the and fled from the spot.
According to reports, Delhi Police located Gurpreet by tracking the registration number of the vehicle through CCTV footage.
They impounded both the car containing the body and another four-wheeler owned by Gurpreet. Police have also found Rs 2.25 crore in Gurpreet's residence.
