Dimapur Railway Station chosen for Rs 283 crore modernization under "Amrit Bharat Station Scheme"
Dimapur/Nagaland: Dimapur Railway Station, among 508 selected stations for transformation under the "Amrit Bharat Station Scheme," is set to undergo a world-class upgrade with a budget of Rs 283 crore.
The announcement came during the foundation stone laying ceremony attended by PM Narendra Modi via video conferencing.
Governor La Ganesan and Advisors Ayemi and Longkumer were present at the unveiling ceremony. Governor Ganesan highlighted Dimapur's significance as a commercial hub and essential transport link, emphasizing its importance for the nation's security, reports Morung Express.
The upgraded station will feature a new building with local cultural elements, advanced passenger facilities, a 72-meter-wide roof plaza, modern waiting areas, retail spaces, and green initiatives. A new parking facility for various vehicles is also planned.
After the event, railway officials discussed the redevelopment plan. PK Kshatriya of Northeast Frontier Railway detailed expanded building areas, increased seating, enhanced traffic capacity, and proposed completion within 2 ½ years.
Regarding land encroachment, officials sought state government support for resolution. Advisor Longkumer stressed encroachment's legal implications and the importance of safeguarding the community's future.
