'Don't want anyone to become PM with fake degree': Kejriwal's veiled attack on PM Modi

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday made a veiled barb at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his educational qualifications while hitting back at BJP leader Harish Khurana, who questioned the AAP government's work in the education sector of the national capital.

“If some children are weak in studies, we will teach them by organizing extra classes. One of these children will become the PM of the country in the future. We do not want anyone to become PM in the future with a fake degree,” read a translation of Kejriwal’s tweet in Hindi.

https://t.co/ngnrLsf7kK

Kejriwal tweeted a few hours after Khurana posted a few mark sheets of government school students on Twitter, alleging that over one lakh students fail in Class 9 every year.

The AAP chief has continued to mock the prime minister over his educational qualifications.

During his recent visit to Assam, Kejriwal questioned PM Modi's degrees and stated that if he had been educated, he would not have called for demonetisation or passed the farm laws, which were eventually repealed.

Despite a warning and a fine of Rs 25,000 by the Gujarat High Court, Kejriwal has been questioning the validity of PM Modi’s educational credentials.

On March 31, the court quashed the Chief Information Commissioner's 2016 order, which directed the Gujarat University to provide details on PM Modi's degrees to Kejriwal.

Even Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is locked in Tihar Jail recently in a case related to Delhi excise policy, wrote a letter to PM Modi questioning his academic qualifications.

A copy of the letter was tweeted by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday. In the letter, Sisodia took a jibe at PM Modi saying that India needs an educated Prime Minister "for the country to progress".
