Gurugram/IBNS: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Wednesday said it is not possible for the police to protect every individual in a state and appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony.

Haryana has been witnessing a wave of communal clashes that has already claimed six lives which includes two Home Guard personnel and four civilians since Monday.  The violence has now reached the gates of the national capital.

"If there is no amity, there is no security. If everybody insists on opposing each other, there is no security. It is not possible for the police, the army, or you and I to protect each and every person," he said.

"A certain environment is needed to ensure security. There has to be amity, good relations... for that we have peace committees... In case there is trouble, then we can take measures. They have done peace marches... go anywhere in the world, the police cannot protect everyone. We have two lakh people, and only 50,000 policemen," the CM said.

Khattar assured that the state government is actively working to identify those responsible for this incident and to uncover any potential conspirators.

“A search operation is underway to locate and apprehend individuals who are absconding. As of now, 116 people have been arrested in connection with the incident. All the arrested will be sent on remand today so that more information about those involved in this incident can be obtained,” he said.

Khattar made it clear that strict and decisive action will be taken against anyone found guilty of involvement in this incident.

"No one will be spared. Justices for the victims and their families will be ensured," the CM promised.

Khattar informed that 30 companies of the Haryana police have been deployed in the conflict-hit Nuh. Additionally, 20 companies of Central Security Forces (CSF) have been deployed in the district as well with three companies deployed in Palwal, two companies in Gurugram, one in Faridabad, and a substantial deployment of 14 companies.

He said that safeguarding the well-being of the general public is a paramount responsibility of the state government.

He assured that all relevant security agencies, including the police, are on high alert and actively engaged in ensuring the safety of citizens.

"Furthermore, any isolated incidents that occurred in other areas have been swiftly brought under control. As a result, the situation in those areas has returned to normal. Comprehensive and coordinated efforts are being made to maintain peace, security, and normalcy in the state,” informed the Chief Minister.

Urging people to maintain peace, harmony, and brotherhood, he said that allowing tensions to escalate can have a detrimental impact on the spirit of brotherhood among the people.
