Indian-origin woman stabbed to death in London while she was waiting for bus in Burnt Oak
A 22-year-old man has been charged with the murder of an Indian-origin woman Anita Mukhey who was stabbed when she was standing at a bus stop in London, police said.
The attacker was identified as Jalal Debella.
He appeared on Saturday (May 11, 2024) at Willesden Magistrates’ Court where he was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
Police were called at around 11:50hrs on Thursday (May 9, 2024) to reports of a stabbing in Burnt Oak Broadway.
"Officers, London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London’s Air Ambulance (HEMS) all attended the scene, where a 66-year-old woman was treated for knife wounds," Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
Jalal Debella was arrested on suspicion of murder in the Colindale area on Thursday (May 9).
“Anita Mukhey, 66 years old, was a married mother and grandmother devoted to her family, who also worked part-time in the NHS as a Medical Secretary. The family ask for privacy at this difficult time," her family members of the victim said in a statement.
