Narendra Modi on Monday condemned the terror attack in Israel's Jerusalem that left at least six people dead.
In his X post message, Modi said: "Strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Jerusalem today. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured."
"India condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and stands firm in its policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism," he said.
At least six people died and several others were injured after two suspected Palestinian terrorists opened fire on vehicles and pedestrians in Jerusalem’s Ramot Junction, media reports said.
The two gunmen, residents of the West Bank, arrived at the junction shortly after 10 a.m. — according to some reports, by car — and opened fire at people waiting at a bus stop as well at a bus that had just stopped there, reported The Times of Israel.
Police told the newspaper that a soldier and several civilians, who were present at the spot, shot dead the gunmen.
Sharing details about the attack, Israel's Magen David Adom ambulance said in a Facebook post: "Today (Monday) at 10:13, Magen David Adom’s (MDA) 101 dispatch center received calls reporting two terrorists who opened fire at people near a bus stop at Ramot Junction on Yigal Yadin Street in Jerusalem. Large MDA forces, including ambulances, mobile intensive care units (MICUs), and medicycle first responders, were immediately dispatched to the scene."
MDA paramedics pronounced four males deceased at the scene, including a man in his 50s and three men in their 30s.
"The death of a woman in her 50s, who was evacuated in critical condition, was confirmed at Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Also at the scene were the bodies of the two terrorists who were neutralized," MDA said.
According to media reports, no group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far but Hamas has praised the attackers.
