Karnataka BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde booked for his call to demolish mosques ahead of Ram Temple consecration
Bengaluru/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anantkumar Hegde has been booked after he gave a call for demolition of mosques built on temples, days ahead of the January 22 consecration of Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, media reports said.
The Kumta Police in Uttara Kannada district has registered a case on its own against Hegde for his "provocative speech".
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy DK Shivakumar have slammed the MP for his remarks.
Hegde, who had made several controversial remarks in the past, also took a dig at Siddaramaiah over his decision to not attend the Ram Temple consecration.
Hegde said as quoted by The Quint, "He (Siddaramaiah) first said he didn't receive an invitation to the inauguration of Ayodhya Ram's Mandir.
"Then he said he wouldn't attend it. I would like to say, whether he comes or not, the inauguration of Ram Mandir will happen."
The Congress, which is the principal opposition party in the country, will skip the January 22 consecration event citing religion as a "personal matter".
