Karnataka: Police arrest driver of govt officer who was found dead
Bengaluru/IBNS/UNI: The Bengaluru Police on Monday arrested the driver of a government officer, who was found dead at her home in the city on Sunday, media reports said.
Police took him into custody probing the murder of the 45-year-old Prathima KS, who used to work as a geologist with the State's Mines and Geology Department.
"One suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the murder case.
"He was working as a driver and he was removed from the work, probably seven to 10 days earlier," Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand said as quoted by NDTV.
The driver, who has been identified as Kiran, fled to Chamarajanagar, which is about 200 kilometers away from the state capital Bengaluru, report said.
Prathima's body was discovered with her throat slit at 8:30 am on Sunday.
Prathima's elder brother informed the police about the murder after he visited her house Sunday morning, as she did not respond to his phone calls Saturday night, DCP (South) Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad told reporters.
He said that Prathima has been living alone in the house for the last four to five years, and prima facie there has been no theft of any jewelry or valuables.
