Mumbai/IBNS: Mumbai and Guwahati Police on Friday landed at Ranveer Allahbadia's house, over his crass comments during his appearance on an episode of 'India's Got Latent', a stand-up comedy show but returned empty hand as the popular Youtuber was not found and the apartment was locked.

Allahbadia faces charges of obscenity and offending public morality for his 'sex with parents' remark.

On Thursday, Allahbadia was asked to report to the police station in Mumbai's Khar to record his statement. However, he later requested that this be done at his home.

That request was denied. And, after he failed to appear, the cops issued a second summons and then landed up at his home.

Guwahati Police also joined them.

After he was not found at his Mumbai residence, both teams returned to Khar Police station.

The Guwahati Police wanted to question Allahbadia in a case filed by a city resident, who had accused the podcaster of promoting obscene content on an online platform available to all.

However, while Allahbadia was not available for questioning, his lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud, the son of former Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, approached the Supreme Court to seek relief from multiple cases and asked them to be clubbed.

An early hearing was requested, but Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna said 'no', pointing out that a date had already been assigned.

He also sought anticipatory bail to ward off the Guwahati Police.

The FIR in Guwahati was filed on Monday, which also names Samay Raina, the stand-up comic who hosts the 'India's Got Latent' show.

Raina has also been summoned by Mumbai Police and Maharashtra's Cyber Department, which is conducting an independent investigation. He had been told to appear within five days, but has asked for more time, stating he is currently in the United States.

What is the controversy about?

During the latest episode of Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent, Ranveer asked a contestant about the size of his p***s and then asked him to suck his d**k.

Ranveer was heard saying in a viral video, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?"

Social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina and content creator Ashish Chanchlani, who were the co-panelists, were flabbergasted while they were laughing.

The remark has not only irked the social media users with several of them being his followers, an official complaint has been filed with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and Maharashtra Women's Commission against the podcaster.

Ranveer apologises:

In a video message, Ranveer said, "My comment wasn't just inappropriate but was also not funny. Comedy is not my forte. I'm just here to say sorry... I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just offering an apology."

"I personally had a lapse in judgement, it wasn't cool on my part. The podcast is watched by people of all ages [so] I don't want to be the kind of person that takes that responsibility lightly," he added.
