No rope, no remote! PM Modi hoists Ram Mandir flag with a never-seen-before mechanism — here’s what happened!
Ayodhya/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hoisted the saffron flag atop the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, using an unconventional mechanism during the sacred ‘Dhwaj Arohan’ ceremony, a ritual marking the formal completion of the temple structure.
In a significant moment for India’s cultural and spiritual landscape, Modi and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat ascended the podium, where a specially designed mechanical hand carved in a ‘Namaskara’ gesture was placed.
Unlike traditional rope-pulling methods or remote-controlled systems, the flag was unfurled as Modi and Bhagwat jointly moved the symbolic hand, triggering the hoisting of the saffron flag atop the shrine.
The ceremony added yet another historic chapter to the Ram Mandir’s legacy, drawing nationwide attention.

What did PM Modi say at the ‘Dhwaj Arohan’ event?
On Lord Ram’s ideals: "We must learn from Lord Ram. Ram means maryada — the highest standards of life and conduct. Ram represents supreme virtue and the path of Dharma."
On India’s future: "Ram is not just a person — Ram is a value. If India is to become a developed nation by 2047, we must awaken the Ram within ourselves."
On the Kovidara tree: "This is not just the return of a tree. It is the return of our memory. When our identity returns, the courage and confidence of an entire nation return with it."
On the legacy of the temple: "A 500-year dream is finally taking shape. Ram Lalla has returned to his divine home, beneath the rising saffron flag…"
Modi highlighted the unique elements of the temple complex — the 51-inch Balak Ram idol carved from sacred stone, the expansive Panchvati area, the Sapta Mandap honouring seven revered figures, and the 800-metre Ramkatha mural wall.
He further said a divine phenomenon awaits on Ram Navami next year — when a 5.8 cm sun beam will fall directly on Ram Lalla’s forehead.
