PM Modi grieves deaths caused by stampede in Maha Kumbh Mela
New Delhi/IBNS: Prime minister Narendra Modi has grieved the loss of lives caused by the stampede which broke out during the mega Hindu religious event Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj in the wee hours on Wednesday.

The prime minister posted on X, "The accident that happened in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh is extremely sad. My deepest condolences to the devotees who have lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured.
"The local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way. In this regard, I have spoken to Chief Minister Yogi ji and I am constantly in touch with the state government."

In an X post, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said, "Maha Kumbh-2025, dear devotees come to Prayagraj. Take bath at the ghat of Mother Ganga near which you are, do not try to go towards Sangam Nose.
"All of you should follow the instructions of the administration and cooperate in making arrangements. People are bathing peacefully at all the ghats of Sangam. Do not pay any attention to any rumours."

The injured people were reportedly rushed to the makeshift hospital built in the Tent city.
People in knowledge of developments told Hindustan Times on condition of anonymity that at least 15 bodies have been brought to the hospital.
Many pilgrims are expected to take the holy dip on Wednesday on the occasion of Amrit Snan, a very significant ritual of the part of Maha Kumbh.
