Rahul led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ to make night halts with events at 7 venues in Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu: The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be entering Jammu and Kashmir on January 20 and from Lakhanpur—the gateway to J&K—to Srinagar, the Yatra will halt for a night at seven locations (venues) with an event.
Party sources told UNI that Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Party (JKPCC) president, Vikar Rasool Wani has reportedly dashed a letter to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha referring December 26 meeting at Raj Bhawan in Jammu and has sought permission for holding events as well as night halts at various places in Jammu and Kashmir.
The JKPCC Chief as per sources has mentioned in the letter that the Yatra is scheduled to enter Lakhanpur on January 20 and will conclude on January 29-30 at SK Cricket Stadium in Srinagar.
He however, has further requested the Lieutenant Governor to issue directions to the concerned Deputy Commissioners for granting requisite permission to ensure hassle-free movement of Yatra and conduct of various events including closing ceremony in Srinagar.
As per sources, the Yatra will make first night halt at Lakhanpur Toll Post with an event followed by a second event at Women’s College Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
As per schedule, another event with a night halt will be organised at Open Ground Forest Protection Force, Jammu while Government Model School, Satwari Jammu (event), Chanderkot PDC Guest House/Lawn, Ramban (Event/Night Halt), Yatri Niwas Chanderkote, Ramban (Event/Night Halt), Truck Yard/Ground Lambar, Banihal, Ramban (Event), Sports Stadium Dooru, Anantnag (Event/Night Halt), Government Polytechnic College Larkipora, Anantnag (Event/Night Halt), Government Degree College Boys, Anantnag (Event), Bus Stand Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, DOPS Athwajan, Srinagar (Event/Night Halt) and SK Cricket Stadium, SP College, Srinagar (Event) to follow.
Rajya Sabha MP and Incharge J&K Rajani Patil, former Minister of Power of India and ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo Abhiyan’ Incharge J&K Bharatsinh Madhavsinh Solanki on Tuesday arrived here and reviewed felicitation points in wake of forthcoming Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K.
Patil said that ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ was initiated by the Congress government to bring together the entire nation and to strengthen it.
“The yatra stands as a turning point in the history of India and is the biggest mass conduct program after independence,” she said.
“It stands as the celebration of India’s unity. Everyone is stepping together, rich or poor, citizens or politicians, which shows the ideals of fraternity,” added Patil.
