'Return BJP to power at Centre with maximum seats from Bengal': Amit Shah in Kolkata
Kolkata/IBNS: Union Home Minister Amit Shah Wednesday gave a clarion call to the people of Bengal to return the BJP to power at the Centre with the maximum number of seats from the state.
Addressing a rally here, Shah said, "Give the party such a mandate from the state that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can say with pride that he has become the PM for the third time because of Bengal. "
"Despite mass rigging indulged in by the ruling Trinamool Congress, the BJP won 77 seats in the 2021 Assembly election and 18 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha election," Shah said and exhorted the people of Bengal to bring the BJP into power in 2026 Assembly poll with two-third majority.
Taking a potshot at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Shah said she is always ready to derail any development project of the Prime Minister.
He said, "In my entire political career, I haven't seen so many Ministers going to jail on corruption charges as what happened in Bengal."
Accusing Banerjee of "destroying" the state, Shah also alleged that infiltration is still on the rise in Bengal.
"Citizenship (Amendment) Act is the country's law, and no one can stop it and we will implement it," Shah asserted.
He also charged the Trinamool syndicate with not allowing vast sums of money sent by PM Modi to reach the poor of Bengal.
