Tripura's Unity Mall to showcase unique products of India and Bangladesh
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced plans for the construction of a pioneering Unity Mall in Agartala. The mall is envisioned to serve as a platform to exhibit distinctive products from various states across India, alongside offerings from neighboring Bangladesh.
The project comes as Bangladesh has expressed keen interest in displaying its products in the mall, and the Chief Minister has assured them of a dedicated space, The Assam Tribune.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the ambitious Unity Mall on January 26, 2025. Remarkably, he has expressed his intent to inaugurate similar Unity Malls in all state headquarters of the country on the same day, emphasizing the promotion of indigenous products under the "vocal for local" campaign.
The strategically chosen location for the Unity Mall is the Jute Mill complex, situated on the outskirts of Agartala city.
Initially considered for the TRTC complex, the Jute Mill area was deemed more suitable due to lower land requirements, paving the way for the project's initiation.
Excitingly, the Unity Mall will also feature separate sections devoted to each of Tripura's districts, celebrating the region's rich cultural diversity and unique local products.
\With higher officials on-site to inspect the land, construction is expected to commence shortly, bringing this visionary project one step closer to reality.
