Uttar Pradesh: Toddler video calls grandma to show mother's hanging lifeless body, techie father arrested

A four-year-old child video-called her grandmother to show the lifeless body of her mother hanging from the ceiling of their home in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad town and revealed that her father hung her to death.
During a chilling conversation, the toddler told her grandmother: "Papa hung mom. She is not responding.”
The grandmother saw the deceased's lifeless body hanging from a noose.
The grandmother immediately alerted the police and other family members.
The child's father, Rohit Kumar, a software engineer from Modinagar, Ghaziabad, was taken into custody before dawn on Thursday, reported The Times of India.
The victim was identified as Ruby Rani, 35.
She worked as a primary teacher in Bikampur Kulwada, Kundarki Block, Moradabad.
She married Kumar in 2019.
According to reports, they were living in a rented house in Buddhi Vihar Colony in Moradabad.
"Rohit has been taken into custody for questioning," SP (City) Ranvijay Singh told The Times of India.
He said a forensic team examined the incident site.
He said a case has been registered and the investigation will continue as per the post-mortem report.
Ruby's family claimed she did not commit suicide.
Financial dispute
They accused Kumar of pressuring Ruby for money and the couple had frequent disputes over financial issues.
They said Kumar allegedly transferred Rs. 50,000 from Ruby's account to his own on the day of the incident.
Ruby was reportedly paying the installments for their Modinagar house.
Her parents told The Times of India: "He wanted to sell the house. She refused."
They said: "He tortured her in various ways."
Despite the family members claiming that Ruby was murdered, police are also investigating if she had committed suicide.
Rani had called Kumar before the incident, threatening to take her life, the police told Money Control.
