We are INDIA, we will heal Manipur: Rahul Gandhi hits back after PM Narendra Modi attacks opposition by citing PFI
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday hit back at Narendra Modi after he launched a scathing attack on the opposition by citing terror outfit Indian Mujahideen and the banned Popular Front of India and said the alliance named INDIA will help in healing the strife-torn Manipur.
In his strong reply to the PM, Gandhi tweeted: "Call us whatever you want, Mr. Modi. We are INDIA."
"We will help heal Manipur and wipe the tears of every woman and child. We will bring back love and peace for all her people. We will rebuild the idea of India in Manipur," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a dig at 26 opposition parties who have clubbed together to form an anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) front eyeing the 2024 General Elections, media reports said.
Modi commented while addressing his party MPs over the ongoing deadlock in Parliament over Manipur violence.
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad quoted Modi saying as reported by NDTV, "I have never seen such a directionless opposition."
"Indian National Congress. East India company. Indian Mujahideen. Popular Front of India - these are also INDIA. Just using the name INDIA does not mean anything," Prasad added, quoting the Prime Minister.
Modi has described the Opposition as "defeated, tired, hopeless with a single-point agenda- opposing Modi."
Modi's comments came amid the Opposition's demand for a statement from the Prime Minister in Parliament on the Manipur incident where two women were paraded naked by some men.
Making a strong remark over the incident in Manipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that it "brings shame to humanity” and what has happened to daughters of Manipur can never be forgiven and the "guilty will not be spared.”
