32-Assam Rifles conferred with unit citation by Governor of Assam

In recognition of its exemplary performance, 32 Assam Rifles was awarded the prestigious Unit Citation award by the Governor of Assam on Friday.
The Battalion had operated in a high intensity counter insurgency environment simultaneously carrying out humanitarian efforts in Dima Hasao district of Assam. Operation Remal Rahat was launched by a unit for rescue and relief of local populace during the devastating cyclone Remal.
The battalion was first responder during Umrangso coal mine rescue operation and derailment of Lokmanya Tilak Express at Dibalong by aiding evacuation of civilians and providing medical aid.
The unit has been at the forefront of organizing youth engagement programs for students of Dima Hasao, like providing scholarships at reputed national universities along with. They have also conducted medical camps, blood donation drives and distribution of essential items during emergencies.
