Indian Railways to operate Holi special trains to manage festive rush
Guwahati: Indian Railways has decided to operate Holi Special Trains, as it does every year, to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Holi festival. These special train services are being planned to provide additional travel options, ensure passenger convenience and facilitate smooth and comfortable journeys during the festive season, when demand traditionally peaks across major routes.
Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR through a press statement said that Indian Railways has already planned a total of 1,410 Holi special trains across the country, with more trains being planned in addition to further cater to the festive rush and ensure smooth travel for passengers.
In line with this initiative, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will also run Holi Special Trains to cater to the increased travel demand in the Northeast region. The proposed services aim to connect key destinations and ease congestion on regular trains, ensuring that passengers can celebrate the festival of colours with their families in a safe, convenient and timely manner.
Northeast Frontier Railway is planning to run a few weekly Holi Special Trains originating from Assam (Narangi), West Bengal (New Jalpaiguri) and Bihar (Katihar and Kishanganj) to cater to the festive travel demand. These trains will provide enhanced connectivity to important destinations in North India such as Gorakhpur, Amritsar and other key locations, thereby ensuring smooth, comfortable and hassle-free journeys for passengers during the Holi festival period.
With these proactive measures, Indian Railways and the Northeast Frontier Railway reaffirm their commitment to passenger-centric services and seamless mobility during peak travel periods. Passengers are advised to stay updated through official railway channels for detailed information regarding routes, schedules and booking availability of Holi Special Trains.
