Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway continues to undertake the noble responsibility of identifying and rescuing children in need of care and protection who are lost or separated from their families due to various reasons. During the year 2025, RPF rescued a total of 1101 children (802 boys and 299 girls) and handed them over to Child Welfare Committees (CWC) or parents for proper rehabilitation. Under Mission AAHT (Action Against Human Trafficking), 09 children and 80 adults were rescued with the arrest of 09 traffickers.

In recent incident on 21st January, 2026, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Guwahati, in coordination with CPDS and CIB teams, rescued two runaway minor boys at Guwahati railway station. Both the minors were safely handed over to Child Line, Guwahati for care, protection and rehabilitation. On the same day, RPF at Kamakhya railway station rescued one runaway minor girl. The operation was conducted by RPF team of Kamakhya. She was subsequently handed over to Child Line, Guwahati for safe custody and further rehabilitation.

RPF of NFR remains committed to ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable children at railway premises and is functional across the zone to prevent human trafficking and ensure a safe and secure railway environment.
