Seismic Safety conclave held at NEDFi, Guwahati
Guwahati: A seismic safety awareness event organized by NeFocus in collaboration with RVC at NEDFi Auditorium today emphasized the importance of collective efforts in mitigating earthquake risks in Northeast India.
The event brought together geoscientists, experts, students, researchers, and government officials to discuss strategies for earthquake management. Gaikungam Rongmei, Director of the Earthquake Division, Geographical Survey of India, highlighted the region's seismic vulnerability and stressed the need for collaborative approaches.
Anand Kanu, UNICEF Coordinator, and geologist Hemanta Borgohain also shared insights on earthquake-resistant construction and awareness. A mock drill demonstration was conducted to showcase preparedness measures.
The event saw participation from over 200 students, senior citizens, volunteers, and Media personnel, underscoring the growing awareness about Seismic safety in the region.
