Canadian singer Celine Dion cancels remaining Courage World Tour shows due to medical condition
Toronto/IBNS: Canadian singer Celine Dion announced Friday that due to an ongoing medical condition, all her remaining Courage World Tour shows have been cancelled and scheduled through to early spring 2024.
“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again,” Dion said in a statement. “I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100 percent.”
Dion, 55, was diagnosed last year with a rare neurological condition known as stiff person syndrome (SPS) which is reportedly an autoimmune disorder which causes debilitating pain because of heightened sensitivity to noise and touch.
“It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again,” the Canadian icon was reported to say Friday. “I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”
Last month, Dion revealed her acting debut in a new romantic comedy film after releasing her new music.
With a total of 42 shows having been cancelled, the tour organizers were reported to say that tickets will be refunded via the original point of sale.
