Several celebrities have already visited the festival since it began on January 13 and now singer Chris Martin, the frontman of British band Coldplay, arrived in Prayagraj with his girlfriend, actor Dakota Johnson, to witness the mega Hindu event which is being held after a gap of 144 years.

A video of the musician sitting in a car after he arrived in Prayagraj to attend Maha Kumbh is now going viral.

In the video, he could be seen interacting with the media in a jovial manner.

Martin was in India to perform in five mega Coldplay concerts over the past several days.

Two of the concerts were held in Ahmedabad's  Narendra Modi Stadium, the same venue which hosted the ICC World Cup final in 2023.

The concerts were part of Coldplay's Music of the Sphere World Tour.

According to reports, Coldplay's grand show, which was held in Ahmedabad on Sunday, shattered records to become the largest-ever ticketing concert that India has hosted so far.

After the success of the tour, Coldplay wrote on X: " Thank you Ahmedabad, thank you India. We’ll never forget these two weeks. Your love and kindness will stay with us forever."

Maha Kumbh from space

The Maha Kumbh is not only grabbing headlines across the globe but even drawing the attention of astronauts in space.

NASA astronaut Don Pettit, aboard the International Space Station (ISS), shared two stunning images of the event.

Sharing the images, Pettit wrote on X: "2025 Maha Kumbh Mela Ganges River pilgrimage from the ISS at night. The largest human gathering in the world is well lit."

The tent city, which is located close to the Sangam, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati, dazzled in the images.

The 45-day-long spiritual and cultural event celebration will continue till February 26.

The Uttar Pradesh government has been promoting the event not just as a religious gathering but as a cultural spectacle that in the past has attracted both Bollywood and Hollywood stars.

The mega tent city

Around 160,000 tents, 150,000 toilets and a 776-mile (1,249-kilometer) drinking water pipeline have been installed at a temporary tent city covering 4,000 hectares, roughly the size of 7,500 football fields.
