Dainee trailer: Mimi Chakraborty leads the survival battle of two sisters against superstition

Kolkata/IBNS: Bengali film actress Mimi Chakraborty starrer upcoming web series Dainee is a survival battle of two sisters against the superstition that dominates several sections of the society even in the 21st century.
The trailer of the action-packed series was dropped by the makers on socials on Friday.
Directed by Nirjhar Mitra, Dainee intertwines the harrowing reality of this practice with the gripping story of two sisters, Pata and Lata, delivering a powerful and thought-provoking narrative.
Mimi, who made her OTT debut with Jaha Bolibo Shotto Bolibo in 2024, plays Pata who has always neglected her younger sister Lata, portrayed by Koushani Mukherjee, eventually abandoning her altogether.

Years later, following their father’s death, Pata returns to her ancestral home to claim her share of the inheritance—only to realize she cannot do so in Lata’s absence.
Thus begins a desperate search. What she discovers is nothing short of horrifying—Lata, half-dead and bound, as a frenzied mob prepares to burn her alive.
They manage a narrow escape, reaching a hospital, but the nightmare is far from over. An enraged crowd gathers outside, while the sisters remain trapped inside.
The cast also includes Biswajit Das as Janguru- the Village Head.
Speaking of the web show, Mitra says, "With Dainee, I wanted to explore the terrifying reality of witch hunting and burning that still haunts parts of our society.
"This series is not just a thriller—it’s a tale of two sisters’ survival, reflection of deep-seated fears, superstitions, and the resilience of those who dare to fight back."
Dainee will start streaming on Hoichoi on March 14.
