Several viewers alleged that Janhvi was objectified in certain scenes of the film, which stars Ram Charan in the lead role and was released in theatres on June 4.
After watching Peddi, you can't help but feel pity for Janhvi Kapoor. Sridevi would have never allowed her to act in such B-grade films in the South.#Peddi #PeddiReview #JanhviKapoor pic.twitter.com/F2beJEGaYl

Critics on social media claimed Kapoor's character had little relevance to the narrative and was largely presented to cater to the desires of male characters.
Some viewers also alleged that specific shots focused on particular body parts for the male gaze.
Director responds to criticism
Reacting to the backlash, director Buchi Babu Sana said portions of the film have been edited after reviewing audience feedback.
In a detailed statement, he wrote: "As a filmmaker, I believe cinema should entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences. It should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. We have heard the feedback regarding certain scenes in Peddi and have taken it seriously."
He added: "I have always had immense respect for women, both on and off screen, and it was never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character. If any part of the film has been perceived that way, we respect those sentiments, understand the concerns being raised, and sincerely apologize."
Changes made to the film
The director further said the team had decided to alter the scenes in question.
"After reviewing the feedback, we have decided to make changes to the concerned portions. Cinema grows through its connection with audiences, and as storytellers, we have a responsibility to be mindful of evolving perspectives and sensitivities."
"Every woman deserves to be respected, valued, and represented with dignity. We remain committed to telling stories that celebrate strong characters and uphold those values."
