Kanguva, Girls Will Be Girls, All We Imagine As Light among seven Indian films shortlisted in race for Oscars 2025
New Delhi/IBNS: Seven Indian films across various languages have been shortlisted in the race for the 97th Academy awards or Oscars.

The seven flicks from India are in the list of 207 feature films which are competing to win in the 'Best Picture' category.
The nominated Indian films are Kanguva (Tamil), Aadujeevitham or The Goat Life (Malayalam), Santosh (Hindi), Swatantrya Veer Savarkar (Hindi), All We Imagine As Light (Malayalam-Hindi), Girls Will Be Girls (Hindi-English) and Putul (Bengali).
Directed by Indira Dhar, Putul scripted history by becoming the first Bengali film to be considered for a nomination in the Oscars.
"I am very grateful to the Academy and the entire Oscar committee for liking my work, direction and writing. It's the biggest validation for me," said Dhar and added, "My film is not backed by any big production house. This is my debut film which I struggled to produce by myself."
Kiran Rao's Laapata Ladies was earlier selected as India's official entry into the Oscars 2025 but it could not grab a spot in the shortlist.
The voting process will begin on January 8 and will end on 12th of the same month.
The final list of all nominees will be unveiled on January 17.
The Oscars will be held at Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood on March 2.
