Neeraj Pandey wanted me to promote Khakee: The Bengal Chapter: Sourav Ganguly
Kolkata/IBNS: India's cricket icon Sourav Ganguly, who has donned many hats over the years, surprised his fans with a promotional video of Netflix web series Khakhee: The Bengal Chapter, which premiered on the streaming platform on March 20.

The promotional video, which was dropped a few days ago, featured Ganguly in a cop's uniform gatecrashing into the shooting.
Ganguly was instantly roped in for the cop's role.
When the director asked Ganguly to show some of his trademark on-field aggression as a cop, the cricket icon imagined ex-India coach Greg Chappell, whose tenure saw the southpaw getting dropped from the team unceremoniously and making a roaring comeback.
But unfortunately Ganguly couldn't pull off the task as the entire action sequence was asked to do in only eight seconds.
Ganguly is seen agreeing instead to do the "marketing" of the series, which features Bengali superstars Jeet and Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead alongside A-listers Saswata Chatterjee and Parambrata Chattopadhyay.
When asked for a response on featuring in the promotional video, Ganguly wittily told IBNS on Saturday, "I am extremely talented (laughs)."
He added, "It's just a promotional film for Khankee. I am told that the web series has actually done well. I will also watch it. Neeraj Pandey wanted me to promote it because it was something very close to his heart. I did it and it worked so that's what it is."

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray, the series, which has received positive responses, also features Chitrangda Singh, Aadil Zafar Khan, Ritwik Bhowmik and Pooja Chopra in distinct roles.
