Saif Ali Khan stabbing incident: Police question labourers working in renovation work at Bandra home and actor’s staff members
Mumbai: A female team member of actor Saif Ali Khan sustained injuries during a stabbing incident at his Bandra residence early this morning. She was admitted to a hospital and discharged after receiving treatment, mmedia reports said.
Saif Ali Khan, who was stabbed multiple times by an intruder, underwent surgery and has been moved to the ICU. Doctors have confirmed that he is out of danger, reported India Today.
Preliminary investigations by the Mumbai Police suggest the intruder accessed Saif's residence via the building's fire escape stairs, intending to commit a burglary.
The incident occurred at around 2:30 am in the children’s room, where a house help spotted the intruder and raised an alarm.
Saif Ali Khan intervened and confronted the attacker, resulting in a scuffle during which the actor was stabbed six times.
The house help also sustained minor injuries to her hand during the altercation.
A case has been registered against the intruder under charges of trespassing and attempted murder, as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
While the assailant has been identified, he fled the scene, prompting the Mumbai Police to form 10 teams to track him down.
CCTV footage from two hours before the attack revealed no evidence of anyone entering the housing society.
Meanwhile, five members of Saif's staff are being questioned by police for additional information.
There was renovation work going on in Saif Ali Khan's housing society and the Mumbai Police have also questioned the labourers involved in the work, sources said to India Today TV.
Following the attack, a forensic team collected evidence from the scene, and locals were interviewed to aid the investigation, according to police officials.
Visuals from the site showed Mumbai Police officers recording statements as part of the ongoing inquiry.
