Shreya Ghoshal reschedules her Kolkata concert over RG Kar rape-murder
Kolkata/IBNS: Popular Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal has announced a rescheduling of her highly-anticipated concert in Kolkata in the wake of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the city's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital earlier this month.
Shreya, who is from West Bengal, rescheduled her concert from September 14 to October. The exact date will be announced later.
In a statement, the singing icon said, "I am deeply affected by the gruesome and heinous incident that recently took place in Kolkata. Being a woman myself, the very thought of the sheer brutality that she must have gone through is unthinkable and sends shivers down my spine.
"With an aching heart and with deep sorrow, my promoters and I wish to reschedule our concert ‘Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour Ishq FM Grand Concert’ which was originally scheduled for the 14th of September 2024 to a new date in October 2024."
"This concert was highly anticipated by all of us but it is absolutely imperative for me to take a stand and join you all in solidarity. I sincerely pray for the respect and safety of the women in this world, not just our country."

Shreya rescheduled the concert at a time Kolkata as well as several semi-urban districts are rocked by anti-rape protests on a regular basis.
Earlier, other leading Bollywood singer Arijit Singh, who is also from the state, released a song- titled Aar Kobe- in protest against the rape-murder case that shook the country, ignited public fury and brought the state administration under scanner over its alleged cover-up.
Arijit's song questions when will the rape culture end demanding justice.
Arijit has received flak from the ruling party Trinamool Congress with its leader Kunal Ghosh slamming him for his alleged selective outrage.
